EXT. STREET, AFTERNOON.

The street is filled with young people.

PAN and end on a group of girls.

A YOUNGMAN comes along and one of the GIRLS, KATLINA, (a pretty, fresh faced, blonde of 19) peals off and goes with him and says good-bye to her friends.

We follow the COUPLE as they move through the crowds and enter an arcade.

A MAN watches them.

The COUPLE passes an African American Security Guard, LARRY.

They join a group and then join a young man who is playing a video game.

KATLINA seems to grow bored and SHE moves around the group being sociable. She goes to the bar and gets a soda and talks to people on the way.

The man watches and moves closer while remaining concealed from her.

SHE talks to a group and is standing next to a tall quiet GUY when the MAN closes in on her.

The group is joking and KATLINA goes to put her arm around the boy when the MAN grabs her hand.

SHE turns and gives him a wide eyed look of fear and surprise.

KATLINA:

Hey, man ...

What'd I do?

MAN:

I know you Katlina.

Fear wells up in her eyes and she tries to drag herself away from him.

KATLINA:

Let go.

Help.

Let go.

KATLINA jerks her arm up and down and the others of the group push the MAN away.

KATLINA manages to get away from his grip by almost crawling away on the ground.

KATLINA stands up and a hand rests on her shoulder.

KATLINA turns around and sees that the hand belongs to the LARRY.

KATLINA grabs his arm and throws him across the arcade. HE strikes some machines and knocks them over on the players.

The MAN blocks her way.

KATLINA spins up into the air and kicks him in the jaw, [Crack]. He falls on the group members and ends in a tangle.

KATLINA runs out of the arcade looking last and very scared.

The MAN pulls himself free of the bodies and pursues her outside but she is gone.

[Sound of handcuffs being closed.] LARRY has gotten to his feet and handcuffed the MAN.

INT. HOSPITAL, LATER.

LARRY is on a bed sitting up as the emergency room DOCTOR prepares to yank his arm back into joint.

[Pop]

LARRY:

Aurrrgh.

I'll bet that was being gentle.

INT. HOSPITAL HALL, LATER.

LARRY emerges from the examining room (With his arm in a sling, several bandages, and etc.) to meet a POLICE OFFICER in the hall.

OFFICER:

Hey Larry, you want us to arrest this guy or what?

LARRY:

Or what at the moment.

I want to talk to him, maybe we can make this thing go away.

OFFICER:

Go away?

I heard your arm was dislocated.

LARRY:

It was!

He goes into another examining room.

The MAN is on the bed with restraint which the DOCTOR is trying to work around.

DOCTOR:

Is it necessary to have these restraints?

LARRY:

I'm about to find out.

Could you excuse us for a few minutes?

The DOCTOR looks at them and leaves.

LARRY starts undoing the restraints.

MAN:

Am I free to leave then?

LARRY:

No, that depends on what you have to say.

MAN:

What do you want to know?

LARRY:

Why were you following that girl?

The MAN stares at LARRY for a long time.

LARRY:

Well?

MAN:

First, what can you tell me about that girl from what you saw?

LARRY:

Female, Caucasian, natural blonde, about five feet tall,

blues eyes, around ninety pounds and twenty years. Her

manner would suggest a typical local girl of her age.

MAN:

Could the person you described have thrown a two hundred

fifty pound, six foot four, former police officer however many

feet she did?

LARRY:

No, not a chance.

That's why we're talking, that and the fact that she ran off

and without her testimony it would be hard to make any

charges against you stick.

Now what do you know about her and why were you following

her?

MAN:

What possible explanations are there for the discrepancy

in what you observed and what you felt?

LARRY:

Why do you keep answering me with more questions?

MAN:

Because if I told you this stuff right out, you'd call me crazy.

I have a better chance if you acknowledge first what you

already know.

LARRY:

Well .. She could work out, but even so, she's just not

big enough and she didn't use leverage the way a girl

her size would have to.

There simply isn't anyway a girl her size could have done

what she did.

MAN:

Okay, you're right.

She's not a girl her size.

LARRY:

What the heck does that mean?

MAN:

I'm just confirming what you said.

She must be in disguise, because she did throw you.

I saw it, everyone there saw it and your injuries prove

it. She's not a twenty year old five foot ninety pound

blonde.

LARRY:

Then what is she?

MAN:

A very dangerous person.

I'm chasing her because she has and will continue to

commit horrible crimes. That boy she was getting

near, she came there to find someone like him and

kill him.

I wouldn't be surprised if she hadn't found someone

else since we've been in here, she may even have found

him again.

LARRY:

This doesn't make any sense.

MAN:

Oh, it does, it just doesn't make any sense here, but

where she's from, its the natural order of things.

LARRY:

And what about where you're from?

MAN:

I don't remember if it ... not it must not have.

LARRY:

What does that mean?

MAN:

Where I'm from doesn't exist anymore. Maybe if things

like her were understandable to us, we'd still be around

instead I'm the last.

PAUSE

MAN:

Do you believe me that that boy or someone else could

be in danger from her?

NODS

Do you think you could convince anyone else?

SHAKES

Then could you help me stop her?

NODS.

INT. HALLWAY, LATER.

The MAN exits the room pulling on his jacket.

LARRY joins him.

MAN:

Did they have an address?

LARRY:

Yeah, they even got his plans for the rest of the day.

He was going ...

MAN:

She'll want to be alone with him.

LARRY:

Okay, are you going to explain any of this to me?

MAN:

I would prefer it explained itself.

LARRY:

Swell.

EXT. HOUSE, DAY.

LARRY and the MAN get out of LARRY's car.

LARRY:

According to the report this is his mother's house.

He has a kind of apartment in back.

The MAN moves to cross to the house.

LARRY:

Whoa, whoa, what are you going to do?

MAN:

I'm going to find out if they are in there.

LARRY:

What are you going to do, knock on the door and ask?

MAN:

I thought we would sneak in.

LARRY:

That's against the law you know?

MAN:

No, but if she is in there, killing him, does your law prevent

us from saving him?

LARRY:

No, it just means we might go to jail and she might not.

MAN:

She will not go to your jail, no matter what we do.

THEY go around the side, passing the back door they can see it is open and a WOMAN lies on the floor with her throat ripped out.

The MAN passes the body with barely a glance.

LARRY:

Did she do that?

MAN:

I believe.

LARRY:

With what?

The MAN glances at the body.

MAN:

Her finger nails I would say.

LARRY:

Shit, now what?

MAN:

We try to find her.

LARRY:

You're just going to go up there with out a weapon?

MAN:

She would sense a weapon long before we found her.

Our only chance is to surprise her while she feeds.

We will use what ever comes to hand as a weapon when

we have surprised her.

THEY creep up the steps to the apartment over the garage.

INT. GARAGE APARTMENT, CONT.

The BOY from the arcade is lying on his back, his head hanging off the bed. He is unnaturally pale. Astride him is a pale WOMAN, with very yellow short blonde hair. HER abdomen is undulating and we [hear a sucking sound]. She is sucking him dry.

(Insert Pict)

Through the window in the door we see the MAN come bursting in.

The WOMAN utters an inhuman cry and rolls off the boy into a door that has opened up in the air behind her. As she falls through it the MAN leaps after her. The "doorway" closes with an audible [snap]. LARRY is left alone with a corpse and a lot of explaining to do.
