In Kingsly Amis' examination of Bond he noted the "sacrificial lamb" character. This character appears in most of the films. This is a good person who helps Bond but is killed by the opposition to give the situation more gravitus.
In the film, Die Another Day, who is the "sacrificial lamb" character?
By the most common rules it should be Halle Barre's character (although she is also the love interest and must be around for the closing sequence). You could even say that Ms. Barre's character "dies"(drowns to death actually) in one sequence and then is brought back to life by Bond. Somehow if Bond can bring the antagonist's victims back to life this not only devaluates the gravitus of the opposition but also makes Bond so powerful that subsequent sequences should be handled with his Godlike powers and not pose any real threat.
