Chapter
Four B
|
Ami was still dreaming. She was sure of it.
... The women ranged from what looked like prepubescent to late thirties: Big, small, short, tall. All tan but also: blonde, brown and red. All of them with out an ounce of fat, not all hard bodies but all model attractive.
... "Ami?"
... "Ami!" her eyes were filled with boob, asses, trimmed bushes and thongs. "Ami!!" Jason was speaking, trying to get her attention. She turned dazed eyes to him, "Huh?"
... "Ami, I'm glad to see you up. I don't like your outfit but I'm sure we can find you something."
... What should she say to that? What could she say? "Aaron?"
... "Ah, yes, your brother."
... The man, David, pulled out a cell phone and typed in some numbers. Jason turned his lap top computer so she could see the screen and there was Aaron. "Hi Sis."
... "Aaron?"
... "Yeah, is this neat or what? This guy, Frank, he's a friend of Jason's, he brought over this laptop with a camera attached to it. Looks like you've got one too. Like the apron Sis."
... "Uh, thanks. I'm sorry I didn't call."
... "It's okay. Frank explained that you'd be staying with Jason-"
... "What?"
... "Yeah, this new place is great, so don't worry about me. It's got a ramp so I can get right to the street. And I've got a nurse so everything's great. Don't worry about me Sis."
... "I, uh, I won't."
... "Well, gotta' go. Call anytime."
... The connection was broken but she could still see Aaron. He wheeled away from the table, talking to some man and went into what looked like a kitchen. Ami didn't know what to say. Aaron was terrified. Ami hates it when he calls her "Sis" and he did it three times. "What's happened? That wasn't our condo."
... "No, you've moved out and your condo is up for sale. You found a better place with more room and a ground floor entrance for Aaron. My man, Frank, has seen to everything. Aaron will have a licensed RN twenty four hours a day, actually two. They switch shifts with another lady taking the weekends. He'll also have a professional masseuse who'll come in once a day to ... relieve his tension."
... "What are you doing?"
... "It's simple, you're a member of the family now-"
... "Family?"
... It was clear that Jason didn't like to be interrupted. "Yes, the family." He said indicating the women, but not David. "... and I take care of my family."
... "But I can't afford-"
... "But I can. You'll do your part and as long as you do Aaron will be well taken care of. Better, much better, then you could have done yourself."
... "And if I don't do my part?"
... Jason was not pleased with this question. He wanted her to be delighted with his benevolence. "I've done some research because I wasn't sure but I now understand that Aaron's MS only effects his muscles, his nerves are not affected so he will feel it when his fingers are cut off."
... "You're psychotic."
... Jason's hand moved faster then his expression. It felt like the skin from her ear to her nose had been pealed off. With an effort Jason's charming demeanor returned. "I'm sorry. I don't usually do that. You've had a difficult day. Agnes!"

... "Please take Ami up to the dorm. She needs some quiet time to absorb everything."
... A straw blonde in a pink thong, a little shorter then Ami, got off a nearby chase lounge and gently put her hands on Ami's shoulders. "Come along dear." Ami wasn't ready to move, but David appeared ready to make her move. "It'll be better if you come along."
... Ami allowed Agnes to direct her away from the table. To the left was an outside stairway to the balcony that goes around the inside of the garden. Agnes lead Ami up it and into the large room with the beds and bright colors "Here you go. You'll stay here for now." Agnes starts to undo the apron behind Ami's neck. "Let's get this off of you."
... "No!" Ami pulled away.
... "It's okay dear, I'm not going to hurt you. Look Jason has laid out a bikini for you." Agnes points to a conservative white bikini with tie sides laying on the only completely clean vanity.
... "What he said-" Ami searches Agnes' face, hoping she will answer without her having to complete the question. Agnes tries but Jason said a lot of things. "...about Aaron's fingers-"
... "Oh don't worry, he already punished you for talking back. He doesn't punish twice for the same thing."
... Ami stared at Agnes again. She hadn't been asking about that. That wasn't much, she'd just said the truth but from what Agnes just said, Aaron could have been hurt for it. As a way of punishing Ami. What he'd said was not only true but to be carried out for ... minor offenses? Not trying to escape but just for telling a monster he's a monster?
... Agnes read Ami right this time and became very sad. Agnes went over to one of the vanities and opened the drawer. She took out what looked like a small jewel case. She lifted the lid, there was a clear lid underneath. Agnes showed the contents to Ami. Two, wrinkled and thin fingers sitting on a bed of cotton. The small and second from the left hand. Ami was horrified. "My Gran raised me after my dad left. I was working at a Dairy Queen and had just graduated high school when I met Jason. The state stopped sending money because I was eighteen and I didn't have the grades or the mind to go to college. Jason moved my Gran into a real nice place. I visited it once, didn't see much of the outside but the inside is real nice, looks like a resort hotel or something. There's lots of people for Gran to do stuff with, she likes to play cards. ..." Agnes was having trouble but she obviously wants to go on so Ami remained silent.
... "I tried to call out once. I saw Jason and Frank call out once. I counted eleven numbers, too many to be local, one to few to be long distance. I figured four numbers, nine thousand combinations, they didn't repeat any numbers you see. So I ran through the combinations but they caught me before I could get through.
... "Another time Frank caught me at the top of the wall, I think he could have caught me before but I think he liked throwing me off it.
... "Jason didn't do it himself. He was here with me, holding the phone while they did it. One time it was Frank and the other it was David. But Jason gave me the fingers in the jewel box. I know they can't put them back but when I get mad, I look at them.
... "He usually starts with the toes, but Gran really likes to play cards. She still plays but ..."
... Ami finished, if Agnes tries something else her Gran will be short all the fingers on one hand. "But how-"
... Agnes rushed to answer. "She's got diabetes so they said she lost the circulation in the fingers and to keep them from-" Agnes put her hand to her face. She was crying. She covered up the box and put it back into the drawer. "I'm sorry. We always thought you looked real nice."
... Agnes ran out of the room. Well that was something. Ami went to the windows and looked down. It was definitely a scene designed for a man's tastes. A garden of earthly delights. Jason sat at his rot-iron table with his laptop while a dozen beautiful women sat around him doing nothing. And now Ami was to be one of those women. Every fiber of her said to resist. But the image of Aaron scared and at the mercy of Frank or whoever, told her that resistance had to be delayed if not forgotten.
