What about what happened in Denver?

... Apparently some years ago doctors in Denver Colorado, "The Mile High City," noticed a surprising trend/occurence. At a regional convention several Denver doctors reported having seen women on an emergency basis. The women were tourists who had been in Denver only a few days when they made the emergency appointments with the doctors.

... The women all complained of the same thing, a rushing noise. They reported having heard the noise since they had entered Denver and they could find no source for the sound and no one else in their party heard it. The women were afraid they had inner ear problems. The women had come to the doctors independantly over a period of months and years and none of them knew any one else who had suffered from the same problem. The doctors were unable to find anything wrong with the women.

... The convention was the first time the doctors had learned of the number of cases and the similarity of symptoms. While the docotors discussed the cases they found additional similarities. The women were all from low lieing areas, particularly coastal cities. The women all had superior breast size and in the cases where it was discussed, admitted to recently (or since the last time they'd been to Denver) having breast augmentation surgery.

... The doctors were able to deduce, and later prove, that all the women were suffering from a change in atmospheric pressure which was effecting their saline filled breast implants. No damage or injury occured and the sound dissappeared when they returned to a lower altitude.

One last note, residents of Denver who had breast implants did not suffer similar problems.
